PG&E has scheduled a planned power outage for Elk Creek and Stonyford the night of Thursday, July 17 so crews can safely make electrical upgrades to improve electric reliability in western Glenn and northwest Colusa counties.
The power outage is necessary so PG&E crews can safely install new substation equipment and animal abatement devices, reframe a wooden transmission pole and perform improvements at three other poles. The outage is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 and last until 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18.
PG&E crews will work simultaneously at several locations to complete the tasks as quickly as possible.
“We apologize for the inconvenience that this planned outage will have on our customers in the Elk Creek and Stonyford areas but we are confident that the upgrades will lead to fewer power outages,” said Lia White, manager of PG&E’s North Valley Division leadership team.
PG&E has already notified the 918 affected customers in the area by mail about the upcoming work.
PG&E continues to make significant progress in electric reliability that benefits customers throughout its service area. Customers in Northern and Central California experienced the fewest service interruptions and shortest duration of power outages in company history last year.
Customers have seen a 40 percent improvement in the average duration of service disruptions and a 27 percent improvement in the number of customer interruptions since 2006.
